Layne Garrett started with a name I never wanted the world to forget.

Layne was my brother. Losing him changed my life, and years later, when I decided to build something of my own, there was never really a question of whose name it would carry.

This brand is one of the ways I get to keep a piece of him moving forward with me.

Nine has been part of Layne Garrett from the beginning because 9 was his number. What started as nine pieces in every collection has grown with the brand. There will still be collections of nine when the pieces belong together, but nine was never meant to be a rule. It was meant to mean something. And it always will.

I want the clothing to feel special too. A wardrobe for the life you’re actually living — the everyday, the main events, and everything between. Pieces you’re excited to wear, that make you feel like yourself, and that become part of the memories you make in them.

Because somewhere along the way, I learned just how much the little things we keep can mean.

Layne Garrett is clothing, but to me, it will always be more than clothing. It’s his name, his number, and a little piece of my brother carried forward.
